TELECOMWORLDWIRE-28 February 2007-AT&T Government Solutions awarded extension to JUTNet contract(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

An extension to the current Justice Unified Telecommunications Network (JUTNet) order with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has been awarded to AT&T Government Solutions, a provider of network-enabled solutions and IP-based solutions to the US federal government and a unit of AT&T Inc (NYSE:T).

AT&T Government Solutions said the network order, which is valued at up to USD41m over two years, will provide JUTNet services to around 1,900 DOJ locations. JUTNet is an MPLS technology-based high-speed optical network which allows the DOJ to consolidate networks from over 30 component organisations into one secure, managed MPLS network.

AT&T Government Solutions will provide managed network services such as on-site installation and integration, programme management, managed security, design and engineering to the DOJ. It claimed the MPLS VPN network provides features such as private IP transport with encryption, a secondary carrier for transport and access diversity, strict SLA metrics and end-to-end service controls using IP-based features.

The company said it is working with DOJ agencies including the US Attorneys office, Drug Enforcement Administration, US Marshals Service, Justice Management Division and Federal Bureau of Prisons to help them use JUTNet.
