AT&T ANNOUNCES 'SPECIAL COUNTRY' CALLING PLAN

AT&T ANNOUNCES 'SPECIAL COUNTRY' CALLING PLAN
 SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T today announced a new

international calling plan, the AT&T Special Country (sm) Plan, which provides consumers with a significant new discount on direct-dialed international calls.
Free of sign-up fees and monthly charges, the AT&T Special Country Plan gives a 15-percent discount off AT&T's basic rates on every direct-dialed call a consumer makes from the United States to the country he or she chooses. The AT&T Special Country Plan gives the consumer the discount on calls to all numbers in the selected country. The 15-percent discount is applied whenever the consumer makes a direct- dialed call to that country -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
With the AT&T Special Country Plan, consumers can also change to a different country at no charge as often as once in any 30-day period, and get the 15-percent discount on calls to every number there. Consumers can choose from the more than 200 countries and areas where AT&T provides direct-dialed international long-distance service.
"Consumers tell us they want discounts every time they make a direct-dialed international call to a particular country," said Jim Hufnagel, AT&T consumer international long-distance product manager. "They also want a flexible plan that requires neither sign-up fees nor monthly service charges, and is easy to understand and use. The AT&T Special Country Plan is ideal for these consumers. They simply sign up, select a country, and begin saving," Hufnagel said.
Consumers who subscribe to AT&T's Reach Out(R) America family of domestic calling plans can also realize savings with the AT&T Special Country Plan. In addition to savings on state-to-state long-distance calls, they get 15 percent off direct-dialed international calls made to the special country they select, and five percent off calls to all other countries.
The AT&T Special Country Plan will be available beginning Nov. 1, 1992, pending FCC tariff effectiveness.
