AT&T AND USO OFFERS ORLANDO NAVAL TRAINING CENTER GRADS FREE CALLS
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T, in partnership with the United Services Organization (USO), will be offering Orlando Naval Training Center graduates free, three-minute, long-distance telephone calls to their families who are unable to attend graduation. Starting on Jan. 9, the free calls will be available at USO-sponsored "Family Nights," which will be held weekly throughout 1992 for the 400-700 weekly graduates and their families.
"The AT&T free call home will enable Navy recruits to include family members from all over the world in celebrating a very special day in their lives -- graduation from Navy boot camp," stated Hal Hessler, executive director, Central Florida USO.
Graduation recruits visiting the AT&T booth on "Family Night" will have an opportunity to place their calls to family members in any out-of-state location in the United States as well as in more than 270 countries and areas worldwide. Graduates also will be given information on how to reach the AT&T network by dialing the AT&T access code, 10-ATT-0, when using a public phone not subscribed to the AT&T Worldwide Intelligent Network and how to use USADirect, a service that allows Americans stationed overseas to reach an AT&T operator in the United States by dialing 1-800-100 from most phones.
In addition to the free calls on "Family Nights" for Orlando Naval Training Center graduates, AT&T is also donating $15,000 to the Central Florida USO. The funding will be used in supporting other local programs in the Orlando area.
