 ASICS(R) EXPANDS MARKETING DIVISION TO FOCUS
 ON NEW PRODUCT LAUNCHES AND MARKET RESEARCH
 FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Due to recent corporate growth, increased bookings and expanded footwear offerings, ASICS TIGER Corp. will strengthen and increase its marketing support by focusing on new product launches and retail market research. To accommodate these specific areas, ASICS(R) marketing department has hired Gregg Jackson and Patrick Perry to augment the company's projected growth.
 As ASICS tennis/walking marketing coordinator, Jackson will plan and develop all marketing programs for the launching of ASICS two new footwear lines. ASICS walking footwear category will debut in fall 1992 and ASICS tennis footwear category will be re-introduced in spring 1993.
 "The spring 1993 tennis line will mark ASICS inaugural attempt at internationally designing, marketing and launching a footwear line. Because of this, ASICS must pay particular attention to all marketing coordination and management efforts for the category," says Jon Hay, ASICS marketing manager.
 "Recently, walking has become one of the most competitive consumer footwear markets. Along with the support of ASICS fitness endorsees Harvey and Marilyn Diamond, authors of 'Fit For Life,' the addition of Jackson will enable ASICS to intensely concentrate on establishing and maintaining a strong presence in the walking category."
 Jackson attended the University of Oregon and was formerly employed at Nike, where he served as advertising project manager and retail division marketing manager.
 To provide retail dealers with more extensive technical and promotional support, Perry has joined the ASICS team as ASICS dealer service representative. In this position, Perry will assist in establishing the infrastructure for ASICS dealer support network and will provide ASICS with grass roots retail market research.
 "Acting as an informational liaison between ASICS and its dealers, Perry will concentrate on strengthening and solidifying ASICS relationship with retailers," says Hay.
 "This, in turn, will help to increase ASICS exposure at the consumer level."
 Prior to ASICS, Perry was vice president of research and development at Linear Sporting Goods Ltd. Perry also held a seven-year tenure at The Athlete's Foot, where he served in a variety of positions from company store coordinator to director of franchise services.
 ASICS TIGER Corp. offers a full line of athletic shoes, sports apparel, ski apparel and accessories. ASICS products are available at many specialty retailers and chain stores throughout the United States.
