ASI Hires Chief Claims Officer, Opens Claims Office in California.
Mr. Kirkner will be based out of ASI's Atlanta office and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the claims unit, monitor the status of major claims, and coordinate ASI's attorney and third-party administrator relationships. "We are pleased to have a professional of Art's caliber join the ASI team, and we look forward to his contribution to our organization," said Joseph D. Scollo, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Kirkner will also oversee ASI's new San Diego claims handling office, which opened in April in response to increased premium writings in the western U.S. The new office will also manage ASI's specialty program claims.
"Our California office will allow us to increase our presence in the construction risk market in the western states, reduce our reliance on third-party claims administrators, and help manage our claims more effectively," said Kirkner.
The new office employs nine claims professionals, including a claims staff counsel. The employees in the San Diego office average more than 15 years of experience in claims handling, with emphasis in the construction defect and specialty program claims areas.
Mr. Kirkner joins ASI with more than 25 years of diverse experience in claims management for specialty risks, more specifically in dealing with claims with complex coverage issues. Prior to joining ASI, he was Senior Vice President of Operations with GAB Robins North America, Inc., where he was responsible for revitalizing the large account and specialty claims unit by implementing claims best practices. Mr. Kirkner has also held various high-level claims and risk management positions during his career.
