ASER to launch education survey report of 142 districts.

ISLAMABAD -- Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) to launch its survey report on education on Monday (Jan 28) which has been conducted in 136 districts (rural areas) and six districts (urban areas) across Pakistan.

The survey collected information of 5,594 schools out of which 3,934 government schools and 1,660 private schools. As many as 30 per cent government schools and 88 per cent private schools were offering co-education.

The survey was conducted with collaboration of South Asia Forum for Education Development (SAFED) ,the Foundation Open Society Institute (FOSI), Department for International Development (DFID), British Council, National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Sindh Education Foundation, Bacha Khan Education Foundation and Oxfam Novib and managed by Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), said a release issued here.

It may be mentioned here that ASER's specifically trained 9,000-member volunteer team has surveyed 80,209 households in 4,033 villages and collected detailed information on 3-16 years age group 251,444 children (59 % male and 41 % female). While, 5-16 years age group 244,477 children were tested for language and arithmetic competencies.
