Schnitzer museum to host photography auction

Photographs by Bill Owens, of "Suburbia" fame, and by Eugene's own Brian Lanker are among works donated by more than 50 photographers for this year's Photography at Oregon auction, which will be held Saturday at the University of Oregon's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.

Tickets are $30 per person and include a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the 7 p.m. auction of more than 60 prints. The proceeds will support Photography at Oregon programs at the art museum.

"Suburbia" is Owens' sharply observed 1972 photographic examination of suburban life.

The book, and the photographer, have been enjoying a renaissance in recent years.
