Fan Conference, and Exclusive Broadband Programming
ARTISTdirect.com (Nasdaq:ARTD) was founded on the premise that artists could connect directly with their fans through the power of the Internet.
With this week's release of Cher's "Not.Com.mercial," the superstar's Internet-only album, fans can get the one thing that's most important to them -- music -- and it's music that's not available anywhere else. "Not.Com.mercial," the first collection of songs that Cher wrote herself, has been described as a "personal" record, and through ARTISTdirect, she'll have the opportunity to reach her most devoted fans.
"Cher's decision to release `Not.Com.mercial' through the Internet is an example of the empowerment the Internet provides for artists," said Marc Geiger, Chairman and CEO of ARTISTdirect Inc. "This is an album that she wanted her fans to hear, and she was able to release it through cher.com and cherdirect.com entirely on her own terms. We're delighted to be working with Cher, and we're delighted that ARTISTdirect is the platform that she's chosen to use to bring `Not.Com.mercial' to her fans."
ARTISTdirect is also providing a platform for a series of promotional events utilizing the ARTISTdirect Network. Cher fans from around the world and in Los Angeles participated in an intimate question-and-answer session with Cher during a recent Fan Conference, which is currently featured on the broadband section of ARTISTdirect. On Nov. 14, in an exclusive "Artist Access" segment, Cher speaks about "Not.Com.mercial." Both the Fan Conference and the "Artist Access" segment will be archived at ARTISTdirect.com. Additionally, free downloads of three of the album's tracks are available at ARTISTdirect.
Those who order "Not.Com.mercial" through cher.com and cherdirect.com are automatically entered into a "Golden Ticket" contest -- a Willy Wonka-esque treasure hunt for a golden ticket that will be inserted into one of the physical CDs. The Golden Ticket holder will win an all-expenses paid three-day trip to London to meet Cher. There will also be five "Silver" tickets; the silver ticket holders will receive a new Cher doll that will not be available commercially until Spring of 2001. The "Golden Ticket" contest is also available by registering online at cherdirect.com. Winners will be determined by Dec. 1, 2000.
