ARTHUR ANDERSEN & CO., SC ANNOUNCES RECORD WORLDWIDE REVENUES

/ADVANCE/LONDON, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Arthur Andersen & Co. SC announced today financial results for the 80th anniversary year of the Arthur Andersen Worldwide Organization. For fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 1993, worldwide revenues rose 8 percent to $6.0 billion from $5.6 billion last year. Its Arthur Andersen business unit worldwide revenues increased 6 percent to $3.2 billion, up from $3.0 billion in 1992; while its Andersen Consulting business unit increased 10 percent to $2.8 billion up from $2.6 billion last year.
The announcement of annual revenues was made at the organization's Annual Worldwide Partners' Meeting being held in London, with over 2,300 partners from around the world in attendance. In announcing the results, Lawrence A. Weinbach, recently re-elected to a four-year term as Managing Partner-Chief Executive by his partners, acknowledged that a focus on providing consistent, high quality client service around the world has had a positive effect on global results.
"The strengthening of the U.S. dollar prevents one from obtaining a truly accurate view of our growth this year," said Weinbach. "If exchange rates were comparable to last year, we would have achieved more than 11 percent growth." Weinbach explained that Andersen's unique global structure and its commitment to local client service is the reason for another outstanding year for this, the eightieth year of consecutive growth. "Common methodologies and training enable us to plan globally and implement locally, which increases value to clients," he said.
Revenue results (in millions) by geographical area are: Americas $3,264.7; Europe, Middle East, India and Africa $2,221.8; and Asia/Pacific $530.8. The coming year should enable the organization to grow its business in excess of the growth experienced by recovering economies around the world.
Also, with the recent addition of Asahi & Co., now the leading accounting firm in Japan, as a member firm of the Arthur Andersen Worldwide Organization, Andersen is even better positioned in the Asia/Pacific region. Strategic combinations such as this, together with the demand for new service lines in Arthur Andersen and the expansion of Andersen Consulting into re-engineering and enterprise transformation, should enable the organization to remain successful and continue to meet or exceed the expectations of clients throughout the world.
The Arthur Andersen Worldwide Organization is the leading provider of professional services in the world. With more than 68,000 personnel worldwide in 72 countries, its global practice is conducted by member firms in 350 locations, through two business units: Arthur Andersen for audit, tax, business advisory, and specialty consulting services, and Andersen Consulting for strategic services, business process management, change management services, application software products and FOUNDATION(R) application development tools. Arthur Andersen & Co, SC is the coordinating entity of the Worldwide Organization.
