Eugene painter to discuss his work at DIVA

Eugene painter Jerry Ross will give a free talk about his work at noon Wednesday at DIVA, 110 W. Broadway.

Ross is among 30 artists taking part in DIVA's Open Studios Art Tour, in which the artists will open their studios to the public on Oct. 18-19 and Oct. 25-26.

Coos museum to offer nontoxic printmaking class

The printmaking program at Coos Art Museum got a boost last spring with the donation of an industrial quality etching press. It will be put to use this fall as the museum offers a nontoxic intaglio printmaking workshop.

Taught by Pat Snyder, the workshop deals with nontoxic photopolymer printmaking, which is safer for the artist than traditional printmaking with its dangerous varnishes and solvents.

The workshop is open to adults and high school students and will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 and Oct. 18. The fee is $60 for museum members and $80 for nonmembers. There is a $20 lab fee. This workshop will be limited to six students.

To register or receive more information, contact the museum's education department at (541) 267-4877 or arted@?coosart.org.
