ART'S-WAY EMPLOYEES REJECT UNION REPRESENTATION

 ARMSTRONG, Iowa, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Hourly employees at Art's- Way Manufacturing Company (NASDAQ: ARTW) in Armstrong rejected the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union in a secret ballot election conducted by the National Labor Relations Board, the company reported.
 According to company officials, 77 employees voted against representation by the union. A total of 131 employees were eligible to vote and 128 ballots were cast.
 The petition for the election was filed by the union on Sept. 9 with Region 18 of the National Labor Relations Board in Des Moines, Iowa. Voting took place from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at the plant.
 "We're very pleased that the employees rejected union representation," said company President Ron Hottes. "We certainly want to thank everyone for their support and the opportunity they have given us to work together to build the kind of team that we need to meet the challenges of the 90s."
