ARRAIGNMENT FOR TRIO SLATED IN FORGERY CASE.

Byline: Amy Raisin Darvish Staff Writer

VALENCIA - Arraignment is scheduled today for three people suspected of trying to cash a forged check at a local bank and who were later found in possession of credit cards stolen in separate residential burglaries in recent weeks, authorities said.

The trio was arrested before noon Wednesday at Washington Mutual Bank on McBean Parkway after a bank teller, suspicious that a check a woman was trying to cash was forged, summoned sheriff's deputies.

Jennifer Reveles, 23, who presented the check to the teller, was arrested with her brother, 20-year-old James Reveles, and a man who was waiting in a car outside the bank. They are due to be arraigned in Newhall Superior Court.

Both men were on parole when they were arrested Wednesday, according to Detective John Howard of the Santa Clarita sheriff's station.

``The woman had credit cards and (identification) that had been stolen during a burglary in Newhall,'' Howard said. ``She was with (her brother) who had other stolen credit cards from a separate residential burglary in Newhall.''

Howard said those burglaries, as well as others in the area, occurred in the weeks after Christmas.

The third suspect, Colin Slack, 25, who Howard said was driving the getaway car, faces an additional charge of possessing tools used to commit burglary. Howard did not say what those tools were.

Howard said the check Reveles attempted to cash was a genuine check that had been ``washed,'' - where valid information such as the payee's name and check amount is erased and replaced with another name or total. That check had been stolen out of a mail box, he said.
