ARMY TAKES DELIVERY OF TWO AH/MH-6
HELICOPTERS WITH NO TAIL ROTOR SYSTEM
MESA, Ariz., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Army has taken delivery of two AH/MH-6 helicopters that have been converted to McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co.'s NOTAR(TM) anti-torque system.
The aircraft, which were taken from the Army's fleet of AH/MH-6 helicopters, have been undergoing conversion and testing at the company's facilities here. The Army helicopters are the latest versions of the OH-6, which began Army service in 1966.
McDonnell Douglas began delivering MD 520N helicopters with the NOTAR anti-torque system in October 1991. The MD 520N is the civil version of the AH/MH-6.
To date, 20 MD 520Ns have been delivered to customers in the U.S., South Korea, Switzerland, France, Venezuela, Canada and Guatemala. These customers praise the aircraft's ease of flying, increased safety and significantly reduced noise characteristics.
The Army AH/MH-6 helicopters will undergo extensive evaluation and testing to determine if additional Army helicopters will be converted to the NOTAR configuration.
