ARMY ENGINEERS AWARD $260 MILLION TOTAL ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION CONTRACT

WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The New England Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the award of a $260 million Total Environmental Restoration Contract (TERC) to EBASCO Constructors. Inc., of Lyndhurst, N.J. TERC is a start-to-finish, life of the project contract -- from site investigation and identification of hazardous materials to final site remediation and other actions incident to site restoration.
The New England Division has carefully evaluated all of the proposals submitted by four contractors and has selected EBASCO as the contractor best qualified to safely and effectively complete the projects as defined by this innovative contract. The New England Division evaluated proposals based on technical expertise, financial stability, experience and references.
TERC is an indefinite delivery type contract with a maximum cumulative amount of $260 million to be awarded for a period of four years, with two three-year option renewal periods.
According to Colonel Brink P. Miller, head of the Army Engineers in New England, TERC is an innovative contracting method designed to provide continuity to the hazardous and toxic waste cleanup process in the six state region. "TERC gives us the option to wrap an entire environmental cleanup process, or several phases of a project, into a single contract with a single contractor," said Colonel Miller.
The anchor project under this contract is the New Bedford, Mass. Harbor Superfund site where sediments in the Acushnet River and the harbor itself are contaminated with PCBs and heavy metals.
