 ARMSTRONG WORLD INDUSTRIES RELEASES ANNOUNCEMENT
LANCASTER, Pa., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Several changes have

occurred or will occur within coming weeks to the Board of Directors of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ACK).
Barbara Hackman Franklin resigned from Armstrong's Board on February 28, the same day on which she was sworn in as Secretary of Commerce of the United States. She has been active as president of Franklin Associates, a Washington-based management consulting firm, as vice chairman of the U.S. Product Safety Commission, as director of the Wharton Government and Business Program at the University of Pennsylvania, and as a member of the Boards of Directors of several corporations. She has served as an Armstrong director since October 1989.
Mary Joan Glynn retired February 25, after 17 years as an Armstrong director. She has been active as senior vice-president of BBDO, an advertising agency, as vice-president for marketing of Bloomningdale's, and as president of Simplicity Pattern Company.
Francis V. Breeze will retire from the Board effective April 27, the date of the company's annual meeting of shareholders. First elected as an Armstrong director in April 1983, Breeze decided last year that it would not be his intention to stand for reelection when his term expires in 1992. He is the former vice chairman and chief administrative officer of PPG Industries, Inc.
William W. Adams, chairman and president of Armstrong, had words of praise for all three directors who are leaving the company's Board.
He said, "Miss Franklin had a short but distinguished career as an Armstrong director. We are sorry to lose her from the Board but are pleased to see her move to this important national post as Secretary of Commerce.
"Mrs. Glynn's valuable service on the Board spanned the period of the company's greatest growth and some of its most difficult challenges. We shall miss her counsel and her contributions.
"Mr. Breeze was diligent and thoughtful in his many contributions to the work of the Board and its committees. We wish him well in his retirement."
