LANCASTER, Pa., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Armstrong World Industries (NYSE: ACK) announced the creation of a new business division in the company -- the Installation Products Division, which was effective March 1.

Armstrong's installation products business was managed by separate organizations at The W.W. Henry Company, which is an Armstrong subsidiary, and Armstrong's Floor Division. "This move creates value for our customers," said George A. Lorch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, "by streamlining our operation, integrating our people, skills and competencies, offering new marketing opportunities and providing a single source for their floor covering installation needs." Installation Products will be a division within the newly restructured Floor Products Operations.

Richard K. Born, currently Vice President of Armstrong's Corporate Retail Accounts Division, will become President of this new unit and will report directly to Lorch. Other members of the new unit are: Philip E. Donaldson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing; William H. Cornwell, Vice President, Manufacturing; and F. Garry Bertrand, General Manager, Finance. Members of The W.W. Henry Company and Floor Division Installation Products and Services organizations will also be joining this group.

Their priorities will be to strengthen and build on customer relationships as well as to manage the two major brands -- Henry and Armstrong. They will also be responsible for the profitability and all major strategic functions of the business, including products, manufacturing operations, research and development and sales management. The business will be centered around the Henry and Armstrong brands of adhesives, floor care and installation-related products. It will focus on its important channel and OEM customers, as well as internal Armstrong business customers.

The Installation Products Management team will develop a short-range plan within the next 30 days with a focus on its Henry and Armstrong customers, product and product costs and infrastructure.

Armstrong, with 10,800 employees worldwide, is a manufacturer and marketer of branded products and services, including floor coverings (resilient flooring and ceramic tile), building products (ceiling systems) and elastomeric pipe insulation. The company also makes and markets a variety of other specialty products for the building, textile and other industries.
