 ARMCO STEEL COMPANY REALIGNS MANUFACTURING ORGANIZATION,
 NAMES R.M. WARDROP JR. VICE PRESIDENT, MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS
 MIDDLETOWN, Ohio, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard M. Wardrop Jr., 46, was named vice president, manufacturing operations, and Fujio Yamaguchi, 59, was named vice president, manufacturing technology, for Armco Steel Company, L.P.
 Wardrop most recently was corporate vice president, engineering and purchasing, for Washington Steel Corp., Washington, Pa. Prior to Washington Steel Corp., he was a consultant to Quigley Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Pfizer, Inc.
 In addition to Washington Steel, Wardrop's steel experience includes 22 years at U.S. Steel Corporation where he held corporate and operating positions, including various operating management responsibilities for the flat rolled products group in Gary, Ind. In 1988 he became general manager of the Mon Valley Works of USS.
 In his new role for Armco Steel Company, Wardrop will have responsibility for all manufacturing, quality, maintenance and services functions.
 Yamaguchi joined Armco Steel Company in 1991 as assistant to the president, operations, later becoming vice president, operations. In his new position, Yamaguchi will be responsible for manufacturing technology and plant engineering.
 Prior to joining Armco Steel Company, Yamaguchi held a number of operating and staff positions with Kawasaki Steel Corporation, Tokyo. He joined Kawasaki's Chiba Works in 1957, progressing through responsibilities in the cold rolling section. He was named general manager of sheet and strip technology department in Kawasaki's headquarters in 1986, before joining the overseas steel project department in 1990.
 Commenting on the changes, Thomas C. Graham, president and chief executive officer, said, "Dick Wardrop's extensive steel operations experience will be intensely focused on the critical manufacturing operations necessary to the turnaround of Armco Steel Company. Equally important is the coordination and best utilization of technologies under the leadership of Fujio Yamaguchi."
 Headquartered in Middletown, Armco Steel Company is a 50/50 joint venture between Armco Inc. (NYSE: AS), Parsippany, N.J., and Kawasaki Steel Corporation, Tokyo. The company produces flat rolled carbon steel for automotive, appliance, construction, manufacturing and distribution markets. The company employs about 8,600 in plants in Middletown and Ashland, Ky.
