ARKANSAS CONNECTION: LITTLE FEAT TO PERFORM INAUGURAL 'AMERICA'S REUNION ON THE MALL'; MEMBER FRED TACKETT PLAYED IN BAND WITH CLINTON

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6, /PRNewswire/ -- Morgan Creek recording artists Little Feat have been confirmed to appear at the Jan. 17-18 "America's Reunion On the Mall," the kickoff extravaganza of the presidential inauguration festivities in Washington. They will perform on Sunday, Jan. 17 in Washington's historic Mall, 216,000 square feet of which will be covered by tents.
By coincidence, Little Feat member Fred Tackett is an Arkansas native who played first-chair trumpet in the Arkansas All-State Band in 1963 while in high school. The first-chair saxophonist at the time was a Hope, Ark., native by the name of Bill Clinton.
Tackett said the All-State band drew top musicians from throughout the state who convened annually. However, he never met Clinton at the time. "He was a good sax player and a big music fan," Tackett added, "so he's probably aware of the success I've had."
Tackett is certainly aware of Clinton's success; as he watched the 1992 Democratic Convention, a biography of the party's presidential nominee documented his stint as a member of the Arkansas All-State Band.
Bill and Hillary Clinton submitted an eclectic roster of bands to perform at the "America's Reunion on the Mall" main stage that, along with Little Feat, includes Los Lobos, Booker T & the MG's, the Winans, Robert Cray, Peter Paul & Mary, Beausoliel, Bill Monroe, Los Comperos with Linda Ronstadt, Elvin Jones and more.
Little Feat, who have toured extensively in the past year to support their latest album, "Shake Me Up" on Morgan Creek, have been a wellspring of American rockin' roots music for two decades.
