ARIEL OF FRANCE BRINGS ART TO LIGHT.
NEW YORK-Ariel of France is bringing its artistry to light. The wall decor manufacturer, based in Houston, has entered the portable lamp business with a line of richly colored art glass lamps.
Ariel of France, known for its giclee canvas and framed art finishes, made the initial lamp launch this summer, with a short line of about 26 SKUs.
The lamps, all hand-blown in China, feature vibrant colors, night lights in the bases, and unique hand-painted shade treatments that carry the colors and patterns through.
For those customers who might prefer plain shades, each lamp is also shipped with an off-white silk shade.
The line is priced from $95 to $147 wholesale.
The company has expanded the line to 52 SKUs for this month's edition of the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C.
"We started in July and the line has been reordered like crazy," said Carlton Haney, who serves as manager of sales and product development, reporting to John Manceau, co-owner with wife Karen.
While the line didn't meet with price resistance, Haney said Ariel is launching a moderate-priced line to attract a wider retail customer base with goods priced at $69 to $79 wholesale. Haney is also showing several more traditional styles this time, he said.
The lamps are unit packed, with the two shades nested in same box. Each box is UPC-coded with a picture of the lamp on the outside.
