ARGOSY GAMING SUBSIDIARY SUBMITS PROPOSAL AND NAMES BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 ALTON, Ill., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Argosy Gaming Company (NASDAQ: ARGY), operators of the Alton Belle Casino II, the first riverboat gambling casino in Illinois, announced today that its majority-owned subsidiary, Windsor Argosy Casino Group, Ltd., has submitted a proposal for the Windsor Casino Complex in response to a request for proposals from the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations of Ontario.

We believe we have the expertise, dedication and sensitivity to address all of the issues that such a project would encompass, and we are committed to making this endeavor a resounding success for the City of Windsor and the Province of Ontario," said Andrzej Kepinski, president of Windsor Argosy Casino Group Ltd.
 At the request of the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations of Ontario, the specific details of the proposal by Windsor Argosy Casino Group Ltd. are not being disclosed at this time.
 Mr. Kepinski has also announced the members of the company's newly formed board of directors. The ten member board has advised the Windsor Argosy Casino Group Ltd. on its current proposal to acquire Ontario's first gaming license.
 The members of the Windsor Argosy Casino Group Ltd. board of directors are:
 -- Mr. Jimmy Connors, former international tennis champion, businessman and a director of Argosy Gaming Company
 -- The Honorable Robert Kaplan, P.C., Q.C., MP of York Centre, former Solicitor General of Canada
 -- Mr. Moe Closs, retired chief executive officer of Chrysler Canada Ltd. and a director of Union Gas, National Bank of Canada and MRP Waste Management
 -- Mr. Cliff Pilkey, president of Workers Health and Safety Centre, former municipal alderman and member of provincial parliament, and past president of the Ontario Federation of Labour
 -- Ms. Annamarie Castrilli, barrister and chair o the University of Toronto's Governing Council
 -- Dr. William Forder, head of the division of urology, department of surgery at Toronto East General Hospital
 -- Mr. J. Thomas Long, vice chairman, chief executive officer and general counsel for Argosy Gaming Company
 -- Mr. Andrzej Kepinski, president of Windsor Argosy Casino Group Ltd.
 -- Mr. Peter Proszanski, lawyer with Fellowes, McNeil
 -- Ms. Tina Rana, Windsor Argosy Gaming Group Ltd.
