AREW prez upbeat on Clinton.

By encouranging growth throughout the economy, President-elect Bill Clinton will, as a result, help to advance women in the business world, states Alice C. Early, president of the Association of Real Estate Women,

Early said she is hopeful Clinton will initiate and support programs that cure the regulatory inequities facing the real estate industry, encourage investment and free up credit for sensible development.

"If you have no opportunity, you have no opportunity for women," she said.

Many of AREW's members have been hit by the recession, she said, especially the younger women who were laid off from a real estate company before accruing a significant amount of experience.

Nevertheless, she said, women of the organization have shown their resilience. And, she said, they are poised to take advantage of any programs for minority-owned businesses that Clinton may promote.

"They are very resourceful people and very talented people... They are starting their own firms," she said.
