ARE YOU TOO HARD ON YOURSELF? WHEN IT COMES TO HOW YOU TREAT YOURSELF, FIND OUT IF YOU ARE YOUR OWN HARSHEST CRITIC.
Getting a B is OK... but an A is much better. And you're sure there's no chance of ever dating your crush. When it comes to how you think of yourself, find out if you're one tough cookie or more of a marshmallow.
1. You've spent days making the perfect molecular structure of DNA for the science fair. When the big moment finally arrives, the judges award you a bronze medal: third place. You...
A. Are beyond ecstatic and tie the ribbon to your backpack. Every-one's going to hear about this!
B. Call Mom to tell her the news. Your hard work paid off-and you're content with that.
C. Unravel like a double helix. All of those late nights and long hours just for third best?
2. You overhear your BF's best bud asking him about his b-day plans when it hits you: You blanked on it! You...
A. Spend the rest of the day writing up cute IOU coupons to gift him. Hey, his birthday's not over yet!
B. Pull your BF aside after lunch and confess you slipped up. You'll take him out for burgers tonight to make it up to him.
C. Feel so, so, so bad. You're totally the worst girlfriend ever. You barely finish your caf burrito before bursting into tears.
3. Dressed up and glammed out for the spring fling, you do one final mirror check before heading out with your crew. What do you see?
A. You, smiling and excited to have the best night ever.
B. Maybe a tad too much biush, but overall not too bad.
C. Your eyeliner already smudging... you're pretty sure your shoes will give you blisters... and your hair already suffering from an attack of the frizzies.
4. Your team made it to a huge state tourney. You take a shot to score the game-tying goal and... miss. You...
A. Shrug your shoulders and commiserate with your team-mates. Tough loss, but you know you played your best.
B. Put your head down and sprint to the sidelines to grab water while fighting back a few tears. Then make a promise to yourself to hit the field tomorrow for extra shooting time.
C. Crumble to the ground and bury your head in your hands. You had a shot and you unfortunately blew it, big time.
5. You landed an interview to intern at your dream job! When Mom asks you how it went, you...
A. Tell her it's in the bag and ask to stop at Starbucks. To Frapp or not to Frapp? That is the more pressing question.
B. Say you're just not sure. You had your highs and you had a few awkward moments. Guess you'll find out soon enough.
C. Cringe as you tell her some of your responses. You can't believe you said this when you totally should've said that.
6. You just got back from vacay to find out your bestie split with her longtime BF. She was absolutely heartbroken--and you missed the tissues and ice cream moments. You...
A. Tell her he's a jerk anyway and hand over the shell necklace you got her.
B. Give her a big hug, tell her how sorry you are and suggest fun plans for the weekend.
C. Can't believe you had fun in the sun while your soul sister was cooped up in her room crying. You definitely owe her.
7. You and your girls are hitting a party Friday night. You're having a blast flirting and mingling when you spot one of your crew sitting in the corner solo and sulking. You...
A. Roll your eyes. She's always being such a downer. You wish she'd just lighten up.
B. Ask if she wants to join your convo. Then it's up to her.
C. Excuse yourself from Blond Boy and go hang with her.
You feel bad she's not having fun--maybe you should offer to leave early with her?
8. The cutest guy in school suddenly plops his lunch tray next to you in the caf and asks if he can join. You...
A. Feel like you've just won the lottery. You can't believe he's into you. Well, actually, yes you can.
B. Stop yourself from getting your hopes up. You're not jumping to conclusions--he could just want to copy your HW.
C. Look around for the hidden cameras. Is this some sort of prank or something? You're really not amused.
You look in the mirror and like what you see. You hardly ever stress out and know there's no use dwelling on mistakes. Just make sure you keep your standards high and don't let yourself off the hook too easily if, in fact, you actually do screw up. Then, take that attitude and spread the love. If you see a friend being too hard on herself, let her in on your stress-less secrets. Or, just lead by example. By constantly striving to be happy and successful with a positive approach to all you do, you'll inspire others just by being you.
JUST TOUGH ENOUGH
When it comes to mistakes, you're not too hard on yourself--most of the time. You may feel horrible if you forget a BF's birthday, but hey, people have done much worse, right? And maybe you didn't get that A you were seeking, but a B+ isn't so bad. By having a solid understanding that everyone messes up once in a while and it's totally normal to have a bad day, you're able to keep a smile on your face whatever the sitch. Stay the same, and you'll be able to handle any of the challenges that are bound to come your way.
FAR TOO HARD
Ever think you're waaay too tough on yourself? Well, we do! Whether you're beating yourself up over a slightly imperfect performance or doubting your abilities as a friend, it's time to show yourself a little love. Start by cutting yourself some slack. Of course, you should strive to be amazing--you just don't have to be flawless. Coming in second doesn't mean you lost. In fact, it's pretty darn good. And OK, your hair may be frizzy some days, but we're betting you're pretty perfect just the way you are.
