ARCH PRODUCTION ANNOUNCES EMPLOYMENT OF PRESIDENT
FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Arch Production Company

announced today it has employed J. Charles Farmer to serve as its president. Arch Production Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arch Petroleum Inc. (NASDAQ: ARCH), was recently formed as a vehicle for acquiring producing oil and gas properties.
Farmer, a petroleum engineer, was formerly employed by Plains Petroleum Operating Company, Lakewood, Colo. As manager of Corporate Expansion, his primary responsibility was the identification and evaluation of potential oil and gas property acquisitions. Prior to assuming that position, Farmer served Plains as its district manager for an area which included New Mexico, all of Texas except the Panhandle, and Louisiana. His experience also includes foreign assignments with Amoco in the North Sea and the Middle East, as well as technical operating responsibilities with other independents.
Farmer said, "I am excited about the opportunities which are available to Arch Production Company. In the present environment, an aggressive, well-funded independent oil and gas company can acquire oil and gas production at a reasonable price for both buyer and seller. We will enhance company value by focusing on properties with exploitation potential, and will balance the company by considering exploration prospects which offer acceptable risk to reward."
Larry Kalas, president of Arch Petroleum, stated, "The addition of Mr. Farmer to our staff confirms our continuing commitment to extend Arch's past record of success in building our company by acquiring producing properties with meaningful exploitation potential. Chuck's exposure in other geographic areas will complement that of our management and serve to increase our capabilities and exposure. At the same time, his significant experience in the Permian Basin meshes nicely with what is still Arch's primary area of interest."
Arch Petroleum Inc. is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Fort Worth, with interests in producing properties in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana and North Dakota. Arch Production Company is its wholly owned subsidiary.
