ARCADIAN TO REALIGN EAST COAST PRODUCTION

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Arcadian Partners, L.P. (NYSE: UAN), announced yesterday that it will realign production of nitrogen solutions and ammonium nitrate prills at its Augusta, Ga. and Wilmington, N.C. nitrogen chemical production facilities and at Arcadian Corporation's Savannah, Ga. nitrogen chemical production facility. The realignment will optimize productivity and margins at each of these facilities.
Doug Campbell, Arcadian Corporation's president and chief executive officer, stated, "This realignment strengthens the competitive position of the Wilmington facility while improving the East Coast manufacturing and distribution network for nitrogen solutions and ammonium nitrate prills."
Under the realignment plan, Arcadian's Wilmington facility will increase its nitrogen solutions production from 200,000 to 400,000 tons and will idle its ammonium nitrate prills unit. Arcadian's Augusta and Savannah, Ga. facilities will increase ammonium nitrate prill and reduce nitrogen solutions production to account for the Wilmington production changes.
This decision will result in 19 of the Wilmington facility's 94-person workforce being furloughed. Arcadian has established an outplacement center and is working closely with the North Carolina Employment Security Commission and local companies to assist affected employees in securing other employment.
Arcadian Partners, L.P. is a leading independent producer and international marketer of nitrogen chemicals and fertilizers. Arcadian Corporation is the general partner of Arcadian Partners, L.P.
