ARCADIAN'S NATURAL GAS PIPELINE INTERCONNECT COMPLETED

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Arcadian Partners, L.P. (NYSE: UAN), announced today that pursuant to an order issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Nov. 3, 1992, Southern Natural Gas Company has completed the direct natural gas pipeline interconnection from its interstate gas pipeline to Arcadian's nitrogen chemicals plant in Augusta, Ga.
In that order, the FERC required Southern to provide direct gas transportation service to Arcadian's plant as a competitive alternative to the delivery service provided by Atlanta Gas Light Company (NYSE: ATG).
Although the FERC order is the subject of pending petitions for review and other challenges by Southern, AGL and others in federal and state proceedings, the pipeline interconnection began transporting natural gas to Arcadian's plant on Jan. 28, 1993.
Arcadian anticipates that if the FERC order is sustained on appeal, the direct interconnection will save Arcadian approximately $4 million per year in natural gas transportation costs.
Arcadian is the recognized U.S. leader in the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of upgraded nitrogen chemical products for agricultural and industrial uses.
