ARABS-ISRAEL - July 3 - Summit Discussed.

US Pres. Clinton telephones Israeli PM Barak and Palestinian leader Arafat to gauge the value of a possible Camp David-style summit. It is the 2nd conversation between the leaders since July 1. National Security spokesman P.J. Crowley says the conversations focused on "process and substance", but that Clinton had made no decision about convening a summit between the 2 leaders. (Speculation has been rampant in the ME about a mid-July summit.) A Palestinian official says the administration had offered July 17 and July 24 as potential dates for a summit.
