ARA PREPARES FOR MAJOR LEAGUE SHIFT IN SERVICE AT MILE HIGH; CONCESSIONS GEAR UP FOR INCREASED VOLUME OF ROCKIES FANS

DENVER, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Opening day for the Colorado Rockies is just a week away, and ARA is readying concessions to help make sure baseball fans catch all of the action.
"The concession facilities at Mile High were originally designed to accommodate Broncos' fans at an average of 10 games a season," said Ben Ribaudo, district manager for ARA Services here.
"The Rockies' home season is 81 games long. That means Mile High will host as many fans in six months of the baseball season as we typically see in eight full seasons of football."
To accommodate these increased numbers, ARA has incorporated new additions to the Mile High menu and increased service points to a total of 210. This will provide more variety and shorter lines, Ribaudo said. In fact, ARA has doubled its Express Specialty Cart service which will include such brand-name foods as Taco Bell burritos, Domino's pizza and Subway sandwiches.
Differences Between Rockies and Broncos Fans -- Good News for Both
Ribaudo attributes the increased demand for services to a larger volume of fans and also to the nature of the crowds that baseball and football attract. "We know from our experience at other stadiums that baseball fans eat and drink differently than football fans," said Ribaudo. "The warm weather, the number of games and double headers, and the fact that baseball effectively has nine `half-times' when fans get up, stretch and grab something to eat all figure into this logic. More breaks in the action of the game result in more opportunities to take advantage of what we have to offer."
According to Ribaudo, baseball fans tend to "shop" more during those "half-times," as well. "We have literally stocked our shelves with everything that is baseball for this inaugural season. From caps to bats, to baseballs and T-shirts, folks will find a variety of items that are available only at the stadium to commemorate their trips to the park," he explained. Other inaugural season items include collectibles such as sterling silver coins.
Even though the volume of Rockies fans may be greater, the Broncos fans are certainly no less important to ARA. "We will keep successful concepts that make sense for Broncos games," assured Ribaudo. "For example, we will keep the Express Specialty Carts service but will tailor the carts to the needs of the football crowd."
 Getting Ready
In anticipation of the crowds, ARA has taken noticeable steps to expand the service effort. Newly painted walls, renovated catering kitchens, new menus and more employees are good business for ARA and Denver. "This is a win-win-win situation for the city, the teams, and especially the fans," said Ribaudo. "We feel confident that this new season is getting off to a remarkable start."
ARA Services is the largest food service provider to stadiums and ballparks in America, serving Mile High Stadium, Chicago's Wrigley Field, Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium, Ranger's Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and the highly acclaimed Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. ARA will provide design and management services for food, beverage and novelties at Coors Field.
