APRIL TRAFFIC REPORTED FOR MESA AIRLINES

 FARMINGTON, N.M., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesa Airlines Inc. (NASDAQ: MESA) today reported its combined traffic numbers for April 1993. The total number of passengers carried increased to 364,303, up 198 percent compared to the like period last year. Revenue passenger miles were up 205 percent to 77,036,000 and available seat miles increased 151 percent to 159,450,000. Load factor increased 8.5 percentage points to 48.3 percent versus 39.8 percent in 1992.
 Mesa Airlines is the largest independently owned regional carrier in the country, comprised of seven different airline operations. The Mesa division operates as an independent carrier out of Albuquerque, as a United Express carrier out of Denver and Los Angeles, and an America West Express carrier out of Phoenix. The Skyway Airlines division operates as a code-share with Midwest Express Airlines out of Milwaukee. Air Midwest Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, operates as USAir out of Kansas City, Mo. The FloridaGulf division operates as USAir Express out of Tampa and Orlando, Fla. WestAir Commuter Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary, operates as United Express with hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.
