APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATION SUBSIDIARY ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE LICENSING ARRANGEMENT

LANDOVER, Md., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Research Corporation (PHLX: ARLX) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, ARSoftware Corporation, has negotiated an exclusive worldwide licensing arrangement to distribute ORBIT WORKS Version 4.0, an IBM PC and compatible software package for the design, planning and analysis of space missions. ORBIT WORKS uses standard two-line element sets and propagation models to permit planning and analysis 280,000 times faster than real time (when used on a 486, 33 MHz cpu). ORBIT WORKS is available for distribution on Dec. 21, 1992, and will retail for $395 until Jan. 31, 1993.
ORBIT WORKS provides over 50 powerful "tools" to synthesize orbital elements from generally available information. The space tools use either measured or planned orbital elements for space mission design, planning and analysis. Single vehicles, constellations and arbitrary mixes of spacecraft can be easily analyzed. The number of orbital planes (rings), spacecraft per plane, inter-plane phasing, instrument field of view and orbital geometry can be varied. These powerful tools include: polar and equatorial views of orbits; flexible synthesis of symmetric constellations, coverage of points/areas; coverage/gap time statistics; detailed pointing/range geometry; sun geometry; world and area plots of coverage swaths; extensive access filter criteria; accesses throughout a transit flight; instrument activation locations, to name a few.
"We're proud to add ORBIT WORKS, our first exclusively licensed software product, to our growing family of scientific and engineering software. It is an excellent software package for space scientists and analysts to use when planning their space experiments and missions. We are confident ORBIT WORKS will provide them the tools they require, be easy to use and reasonably priced," stated ARSoftware President and CEO Dr. S.P.S. Anand.
