APPLIED RESEARCH CORPORATION SIGNS LARGEST CONTRACT IN COMPANY HISTORY

 LANDOVER, Md., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Research Corporation (PHLX: ARL.X) announced today that is has signed a $24.9 million subcontract agreement with Hughes Applied Information Systems, Inc., as an integral part of the "Hughes team" working on a 10-year effort to develop and field the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Core System (ECS) for NASA.
 ECS is a key component of NASA's Mission to Planet Earth, a pivotal part of the U.S. Global Change Research Program. ECS will allow scientists to access data about the Earth system quickly and easily. Remotely sensed data collected and stored will provide accessible scientific information to a broad spectrum of geophysical, biogeochemic, ecological and interdisciplinary science communities.
 Applied Research Corporation is proud to be an integral part of such a significant scientific effort and is ready to embark on the largest contract ever awarded to the company since its inception 13 years ago.
