 APPLE USA ANNOUNCES POWERBOOK UPGRADE PROGRAM
 CUPERTINO, Calif., May 20 /PRNewswire/-- Apple USA today announced


an upgrade program for Apple Macintosh PowerBook owners who want to boost the functionality and power of their systems with increased memory and hard disk capacity.
 The upgrade program follows Apple's May 15 announcement of availability for new PowerBook 140 and 170 models equipped with larger capacity 40 MB and 80 MB hard disk drives.
 New PowerBook upgrade options for the 100, 140 and 170 models include:
 -- 80 MB hard drive upgrade for PowerBook 140 and 170 models,
 available immediately
 -- 80 MB hard drive/4 MB RAM upgrade bundle for PowerBook 140 and
 170 models, available immediately
 -- 40 MB hard drive upgrade for PowerBook 100 and 140 models,
 available July 15
 -- 40 MB hard drive/2 MB RAM upgrade bundle for PowerBook 100 and
 140 models, available July 15
 All PowerBook upgrades include an Apple one-year limited warranty.
 PowerBook upgrades can be purchased through authorized Apple resellers and service providers, or through Apple. PowerBook upgrade customers may visit their local authorized Apple reseller to order an upgrade, or call 800-SOS-APPL to place an upgrade order directly through Apple. All upgrades will be performed by authorized resellers or by Apple.
 Current manufacturer's suggested retail prices in the United States for Macintosh PowerBook upgrade options are:
 40 MB Hard Drive Upgrade $ 658
 40 MB Hard Drive/2 MB RAM Upgrade Bundle $ 958
 80 MB Hard Drive Upgrade $ 778
 80 MB Hard Drive/4 MB RAM Upgrade Bundle $1,378
 PowerBook sales have exceeded 200,000 units worldwide since its introduction.
