APPLE UPGRADES LASERWRITER IIf AND IIg CONFIGURATIONS

APPLE UPGRADES LASERWRITER IIf AND IIg CONFIGURATIONS
CUPERTINO, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) today announced the following: Description
The LaserWriter IIf and LaserWriter IIg have been upgraded to 4MB of RAM and 8MB of RAM. The new configurations replace the previous 2MB and 5MB products. Significance
The new memory configurations provide users with maximum flexibility and performance allowing them to print very complex documents faster. The enhanced printers allows users to take advantage of additional printing surfaces through printing to margins and provide extra room for cached and downloaded fonts. PhotoGrade, a proprietary Apple technology that enhances text and image quality by providing 800 dpi quality with a 300 dpi laser printer, can be enabled with 5MB of RAM. PhotoGrade allows LaserWriter IIg and IIf users to print the highest quality grayscale images possible on a desktop laser printer today by offering more than eight times the number of gray shades available on any 300 dpi printer. Availability
Current LaserWriter IIf and IIg users can upgrade by purchasing a standard 4MB upgrade kit for either the LaserWriter IIf or IIg. All LaserWriter IIf and LaserWriter IIg printers currently shipping include the expanded memory. Both laser printers and the upgrade are available through Apple authorized resellers. Pricing
The LaserWriter IIf with 4MB of RAM carries a suggested retail price of $3,599 in the United States. The 8MB LaserWriter IIg is priced at $4,599 in the United States. Four megabyte upgrade kits are available through Apple authorized resellers for $249. Pricing and availability may vary outside the United States.
