 APPLE SHIPS UPDATES TO ITS POWERFUL DEVELOPMENT TOOLS SUITE
 CUPERTINO, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) today announced the immediate shipment of new versions of MacApp, the Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW) and MPW C++. These development tools will be available from APDA, Apple's source for developer tools, both as standalone products, as well as on the E.T.O. No. 8, Essentials.Tools.Objects CD-ROM, to conveniently provide software developers with the tools they need to create innovative applications for Macintosh computers. In addition, site licenses are now available for all of these development tool products. MacApp 3.0
 MacApp 3.0 is the latest version of Apple's object-oriented application framework and class library for Macintosh programmers who want to develop robust, intuitive, professional applications. It provides developers the objects they need to program standard elements of Macintosh applications, such as scroll bars, multiple windows, printing, cut and paste, undo and menus. MacApp 3.0 now offers programmers the following new features: System 7 Support
 Programmers can take advantage of the built-in support for System 7 features such as Apple events, Publish and Subscribe, and Balloon Help. C++ Source Code
 Programmers now have source code written in C++, the industry- standard for object-oriented programming, with full access from Object Pascal. Improved Tool Support
 MacApp 3.0 provides new versions of the MacBrowse source code browser/editor and the ViewEdit interface building tools to help developers work more effectively.
 MacApp 3.0 will provide software developers with a strong foundation to smoothly transition to the recently announced Bedrock cross- platform application framework. Bedrock will enable developers to use one framework to develop applications for multiple platforms. MPW 3.2.3

 To program MacApp using C++, the MPW Development Environment 3.2 or later, MPW C 3.2.3 or later, MPW C++ 3.2 and MPW Assembler 3.2.3 or later are required. To program using Object Pascal, MPW Object Pascal 3.2.3 or later is also required.
