APPLE POWERBOOK WINS MARKETING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM SALES & MARKETING MANAGEMENT MAGAZINE

 CUPERTINO, Calif., Oct. 14 -- Apple Computer Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) today announced that it has received a 1993 Marketing Achievement Award from Sales and Marketing Management Magazine (S&MM) for the PowerBook line of notebook computers. Presented at the magazine's annual PowerSelling Conference and Exposition in Chicago, the award recognizes marketing efforts in 1992. Apple was one of six winners drawn from nominations submitted by S&MM readers and selected by a judging panel of eleven experts from various marketing disciplines. The other 1993 Marketing Achievement Award recipients include Blockbuster Entertainment, G.E. Capital Corp., Hewlett-Packard, Nestle Food Co., and Southwest Airlines.
 "Apple Computer's PowerBook received the highest number of nominations for the Marketing Achievement Award," said Tony Rutigliano, editor-in-chief and publisher of Sales & Marketing Management Magazine. "In addition, the PowerBook advertising campaign was cited unanimously by the distinguished panel of judges as the most exciting new product advertising campaign of 1992."
