APPLE NAMES NEW PRESIDENT OF APPLE PACIFIC
APPLE NAMES NEW PRESIDENT OF APPLE PACIFIC CUPERTINO, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer Inc.
(NASDAQ: AAPL) today announced that it has named John Floisand as president, Apple Pacific. In his new position, Floisand will be responsible for Apple's marketing, sales and support operations in Australia, Canada, the Far East, and Latin America. He replaces Ian W. Diery, who was recently named executive vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing. Floisand, 48, will report to Diery.
Apple today also announced that in acknowledgement of its increasing significance in the worldwide market, Apple Japan will be broken out as a separate geographic region, and joins Europe, Pacific and the United States as the fourth geography reporting directly to Diery. "John Floisand's solid knowledge of the Pacific market will guide Apple's strategic efforts in maintaining a first-class position in a rapidly growing, competitive region," said Diery. "During his four years in Apple Pacific, John's skills in channel development and large-account management have greatly contributed to the success of the Pacific division. We are confident that under John's leadership, Apple's business in the Pacific countries will continue to prosper and flourish." Floisand previously served as vice president of sales development, customer service and operations, for Apple's Pacific division. In this position, he worked directly with each Apple subsidiary in the Pacific region, assisting them with channel development, corporate- account management, sales-tool development, customer service and support, and distribution. Floisand was also the director of sales for Apple Computer Ltd., located in London, England. His responsibilities included overall management of the sales team, which comprised Corporate Accounts, Value Added Resellers (VARs), Education, Dealers and Government. Under his direction, the United Kingdom was the first country to launch Apple Centres, dedicated Apple resellers with high-level expertise on Apple products and solutions. Prior to joining Apple in 1986, Floisand spent 11 years in Africa as co-owner and managing director for Base 2, an Apple distributor. While in Africa, Floisand also held the position of managing director of Zytron Ltd., a third-party products distributor of which he was a founder. He simultaneously served as chairman of DataBase Ltd., a computer reseller. Prior to these endeavors, Floisand was a marketing manager for Pioneer Electronics. Floisand holds an electronics degree from Worcester Technical College of England, and a marketing degree from Capetown University in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also has completed executive management programs at both the London Business School and INSEAD in Fontainbleau, France.
