APPLE MEDIA KIT CHOSEN AS EDITORS' CHOICE AWARD WINNER

CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- MacUser, the leading monthly magazine for business buyers of Macintosh computers, has selected Apple Computer Inc.'s Media Kit as the 1993 Editor's Choice Award winner for Best New Multimedia Software. At a black-tie ceremony held on Jan. 4, 1994 at Davies Symphony Hall, MacUser honored the best new Macintosh products of 1993. Winners in 36 categories were selected on the basis of technological innovation, quality, performance, user friendliness, and value to Macintosh users.
"Eddy Award winning products represent innovative technologies that result in real value to Macintosh users," said MacUser Editor-in Chief Maggie Canon. "As we celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Macintosh, it is important to note that inventive products have driven the success of the platform and, over the years, have exceeded our wildest expectations for the capabilities of personal computers."
The Apple Media Kit consists of two components, the Media Tool, a direct manipulation visual interface that allows designers to assemble media elements and add interactive multimedia features without writing a single line of code, and the Programming Environment, a robust, object oriented development environment that enables programmers to customize and extend the capabilities of their Media Kit projects.
"As the next generation, cross-platform media integration tool, the Media Kit is the solution for designers and programmers who want the best of both worlds -- an authoring environment that is easy to use, yet powerful, and a programming environment that is robust enough to meet the needs of even the most sophisticated programmer," said Gaston Bastiaens, vice president and general manager of Apple's Personal Interactive Electronics (PIE) division.
A Ziff-Davis publication, MacUser is the largest paid circulation Macintosh monthly magazine. Based in Foster City, Calif., MacUser provides comprehensive, labs-based product reviews and productivity tips for optimizing the Macintosh platform to more than 444,000 experienced business buyers each month.
