APPLE COMPUTER EUROPE SIGNS NEW DISTRIBUTORS IN ROMANIA AND BULGARIA
PARIS, France, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its expansion into Eastern Europe, Apple Computer Europe announced today that it has signed distribution agreements with companies in Romania and Bulgaria to sell and market Apple products in these countries.
This marks a significant step in the strengthening of Apple's presence in Eastern Europe and reflects the continued evolution of the personal computer industry in these countries.
The agreement establishing Romanian Computer Systems and Bulgarian Business Systems, as IMC (Independent Marketing Companies), the official distributors, for Apple was signed recently. The agreement extends Apple's representation in Eastern Europe and brings the number of distributors to a total of seven (CIS, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Croatia, Romania, and Bulgaria).
According to the terms of the IMC contracts the two companies will be the sole distributors of Apple products and will be responsible for setting up a network of resellers, creating brand awareness and localizing Apple Macintosh computer system software and selected Apple and third party software application products.
"With these two new partners, Apple products and high quality service and support for those products will soon be available in the major Eastern European countries," said Sergio Nanni, senior director of Apple Computer Inc., in charge of the development of these markets. "The first objective of the new IMCs will be to provide, with Apple's support, fully localized products and documentation."
The Romanian and Bulgarian IMCs will be supported by the Apple IEA (Independent Marketing Companies - European Area) department located in Paris and headed by director, Gilles Mouchonnet.
