CALS compliance is mandatory for any system vendor that plans to sell to the government or contracting industry. The Apple Macintosh is an ideal platform for CALS because of the ease of integration into other system environments; support for standards such as POSIX, networking, database, and data standards; and the many powerful and easy-to-use applications that are available today.
