APPLE ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE AVAILABILITY AND PRICE REDUCTION OF VITAL TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE GUIDES

Worldwide Availability
 Apple Computer, Inc. today announced the worldwide availability of the VITAL Technical Architecture Guides (TAGs) through APDA (Apple Programmers and Developer Association) as well as the repricing of the guides themselves.
 VITAL is an open, vendor-neutral architecture for understanding, building and implementing client/ server systems. The VITAL Technical Architecture Guides are a comprehensive suite of documents that specify the principles, design objectives and guidelines for the creation of modular, network oriented, client/server applications composed of sharable components. VITAL also shows how to migrate mainframe-based legacy systems to more efficient and open client/server systems.


Repricing
 Effective immediately, the VITAL TAGs have been repriced at $US300 per copy in the United States. For pricing internationally, please check with the local Apple office.


New Partners
 In addition to existing training and consulting providers, Apple has recently signed agreements with the Tangent Group Pty in Australia and the VITAL Technologies, Inc in the US. Apple also is in the process of conducting qualification workshops for European system integrators and foresees the availability of European training of consulting services at the beginning of 1994.


Significances
 These actions are consistent with Apple's strategy for wider VITAL adoption and implementation through partnerships with key vendors, standards consortia and customers.


Availability and Distribution
 The VITAL Technical Architecture Guides are available immediately through APDA and the Apple Catalog. These guides will also be available through qualified systems integrators worldwide.
