APPLE ANNOUNCES 'EASY TO BUY. EASY TO USE.' PROMOTION
CUPERTINO, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Apple USA division

of Apple Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) announced today the "Easy to Buy. Easy to Use" promotion which makes it easier for customers to buy selected Apple Macintosh computers using special financing terms and also receive a popular software package. The promotion started April 15, 1992, and runs through July 5, 1992
"Knowing that affordability and value are key elements in purchase decisions, Apple is making it more convenient than ever to buy a Macintosh," said Robert Puette, president, Apple USA. "The attractive financing terms, as well as the choice of one of three of the most popular integrated software packages, make this an excellent time to buy a Macintosh computer."
The "Easy to Buy. Easy to Use." promotion offers U.S. customers no finance charges and no payments for three months when a customer uses an Apple Consumer Credit Card (a) to buy any configuration of the Apple Macintosh Classic II, Macintosh LC, Macintosh LCII, Macintosh PowerBook 100, PowerBook 140, or PowerBook 170.
The promotion also offers the choice of one of three popular integrated software products: ClarisWorks, Microsoft Works or Symantec GreatWorks when a customer buys a Macintosh Classic II, a PowerBook 100 or PowerBook 140.
In addition to the special financing and software offer, educators who purchase through Apple's Educator Advantage Program will also receive:
-- "EduSource," consisting of the Random House Encyclopedia, MacGlobe, Correct Grammar, American Heritage Dictionary, and Roget's Thesaurus software pre-installed on the hard disk of every Macintosh computer purchased through the Educator Advantage Program between
April 15 and July 5, 1992. The EduSource system offer is available for the Macintosh Classic II, LC II, Macintosh IIsi and IIci, and the PowerBook 100, 140 and 170. Included with each Macintosh computer will be a special Educator Advantage video, an educator HyperCard information resource stack, and a membership application for the Educator Advantage Network.
 How The Promotion Works
When a customer purchases any qualifying Macintosh system, the Apple authorized reseller will provide them with an "Easy to Buy. Easy to Use." fulfillment coupon with the invoice/receipt. The customer completes the fulfillment coupon by selecting a financing offer option, if desired, and/or the qualifying software package desired. The customer mails the coupon with a copy of the original invoice or receipt to the "Easy to Buy. Easy to Use." address, postmarked no later than July 5, 1992.
Once the information is received and the reseller location is verified as an authorized Apple reseller, the selected software package (ClarisWorks, Microsoft Works or Symantec GreatWorks) will arrive in approximately two weeks.
Customers can apply for an Apple Consumer Credit Card through their authorized Apple reseller. Customers can obtain more information about the promotion by contacting their authorized Apple reseller or by phoning the Apple Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-776-2333.
In a separate announcement today, Apple added new PowerBook 140 and 170 models that are equipped with larger capacity disk drives, and reduced prices on the PowerBook 100 and 140.
