APOGEE ENTERPRISES, INC. NAMES GOULD SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

 MINNEAPOLIS, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Apogee Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM: APOG), announced today the appointment of former management consultant Richard Gould as senior vice president, with primary responsibility for strategic planning, business and organizational development and human resources. He will report to Apogee's chairman and chief executive officer, Donald W. Goldfus.
 "I'm confident Dick's extensive experience in helping companies increase productivity will be invaluable to Apogee and our many divisions," Goldfus said. "As a consultant to our organization for several years, he has already proven to be a tremendous asset."
 Gould studied Apogee in 1989 for a series of articles he wrote for The Human Resources Professional. He then became a consultant to Apogee while president of Gould Associates, a management consulting firm he founded in Connecticut. In the past year, he was instrumental in the restructuring of Apogee's Installation and Distribution Division, which contributed to the turnaround of the business. His firm also served as a consultant to Apogee's Commercial Construction and Window Fabrication divisions.
 Previously, Gould was vice president of human resources for General Host Corporation, a senior executive with American Express and a management consultant with Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young).
 Gould holds a doctorate in psychology from the University of Florida and a master's of business administration from New York University. He is a licensed psychologist and a certified public accountant. His ideas about corporate and personal development have been published in such national publications as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Success, Business Digest and Management Review.
