APERTUS TECHNOLOGIES RELEASES ASYNC TERMINAL SERVERS
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Apertus Technologies

Incorporated (NASDAQ-NMS: APTS), developer and marketer of internetworking products, today announced a new line of asynchronous terminal servers. Apertus will market three new products, the Apertus VCP 200, VCP 300 and VCP 1000 asyncronous terminal servers.
The Apertus VCP terminal servers are designed as high performance, low cost, dual protocol terminal servers for the DEC and UNIX markets. The VCP 1000 is a modular communications platform designed to support multiple LAN and WAN connections in a compact chassis. Async terminal users may attach to the VCP 1000 via RS-232 or RJ-45 connections, or through an X.25 network gateway. LAN users may also access remote host resources through the X.25 network gateway. The dual protocol VCP 1000 can also perform the function of network protocol translation, allowing LAT users to communicate over IP networks, and TCP/IP users to communicate over LAT. The VCP 200 and VCP 300 are low cost, stand alone versions of the VCP 1000 supporting 8 or 16 users, respectively. All three products are available immediately from Apertus at a price of $1,999 to $2,299 for the VCP 200, $2,599 to $2,999 for the VCP 300, and $3,798 to $15,695 for the VCP 1000.
"These products are an excellent addition to our Datastar family and will allow us to provide customers with a complete range of solutions, from networking low-cost asynchronous terminals, to connecting multi- protocol networks to diverse computing environments," said Robert D. Gordon, Apertus chairman and chief executive officer.
The complete Apertus product line includes a series of terminal networking products and gateways. The terminal networking products allow the connection of synchronous and asynchronous terminals to TCP/IP-based, and SNA-based, Ethernet or Token Ring LANs, and offer large capacity and industry leading price/performance. The Gateway products provide interoperability between TCP/IP and IBM 3270 hosts, connect SNA LANs to IBM host environments via SDLC or channel connections, and connect Digital Equipment terminals to SNA environments.
Apertus Technologies Incorporated markets and develops products that enable businesses to efficiently migrate and integrate their historical mainframe/terminal-based networks and databases toward tomorrow's open, standards-based computing paradigm. Apertus emerged in 1990 from Lee Data Corporation, following the sale of that company's commercial and international 3270 business, which consisted mostly of IBM plug- compatible terminals and controllers. The company is headquartered in suburban Minneapolis and has sales and service offices in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Cleveland; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; New York; Omaha, Neb.; Philadelphia; St. Louis; South Bend, Ind.; and Washington, D.C.
Apertus common stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the ticker symbol APTS.
