 APERTUS TECHNOLOGIES INCORPORATED ANNOUNCES ADDITIONS
 TO SNA-TO-TCP/IP SUITE OF PRODUCTS
Network Print Gateway and File Transfer Gateway
 Are Robust, Cost-Effective Connectivity Solutions
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Apertus Technologies Incorporated (NASDAQ: APTS) developer and marketer of internetworking products, today at INTEROP announced the availability of two new products in their SNA-to-TCP/IP suite of high performance gateways. Working in conjunction with Apertus' Datastar system, a high performance backbone hub that features a multiprocessor architecture with a high speed switch backplane, the products form the most robust, standards- based system for providing large corporate networks the ability to integrate TCP/IP-based networks with SNA host resources without sacrificing functionality or performance.
"The availability of these products is critically important as computing organizations continue to migrate their networks to open systems and distributed processing environments," said Robert D. Gordon, Apertus' chairman and chief executive officer. "With the addition of the Network Print Gateway and the File Transfer Gateway, Apertus' Datastar backbone hub offers a complete, standards-based solution for computing organizations in the midst of integrating TCP/IP and SNA-based networks."
Apertus' File Transfer Gateway (FTG) allows users on TCP/IP networks to transfer files between the IBM host and the user or some other specific third host. Users who adopt this approach can transfer files using the file transfer protocol native to their environment, without requiring the addition of an expensive FTP server and TCP/IP software in the IBM mainframe.
Apertus' Network Print Gateway (NPG) translates IBM LU1 or LU3 EBCDIC print jobs into either Berkeley compatible LPR prints or TCP/IP "sockets" prints. This makes it possible for existing TCP/IP printers on the LAN to receive IBM host prints in a reliable, standards-based manner. Organizations are able to use existing networks and can optimize their investment in network printers by reusing existing TCP/IP printers.
The Network Print Gateway and the File Transfer Gateway will be available in December, and work in conjunction with the Datastar 5000. Both options are individually priced at $2,995.
Apertus Technologies Incorporated has historically provided internetworking solutions into the telecommunications industry and is leveraging that expertise as they expand into the commercial marketplace. Apertus' Networking Products Group and Enterprise Systems Group facilitates the integration of heterogeneous computer environments within large corporate networks worldwide. The company is headquartered in suburban Minneapolis and has sales and service offices in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Cleveland; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; New York City; Philadelphia; St. Louis; San Francisco; and South Bend, Ind.
