ANYTHING BUSINESS NEEDS TO KNOW IS NOW A PHONE CALL AWAY
 AT QUICK-RESPONSE DATABASE NET
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- No membership is required; not even a computer. Just a phone and anyone can get big business answers quickly from a major database network.
One might guess what it's called -- 800-FIND-IT-4U, but Ken Lantz of Atwater, Lantz, Hunter & Co., says that number is one's ticket to a virtual information restaurant where the menu is the entree to more than 100,000 journals, directories, government publications, magazines and newspapers.
"Our service gives small- and medium-sized companies capabilities only the largest organizations used to have," said Lantz, whose firm specializes in management consulting as well as information research.
"We can fax preliminary findings to clients within three hours of their first call," said Lantz, "and can usually have a full report in their hands the next day."
The service can provide data on any book in print in the United States or cataloged by the Library of Congress. It researches all sorts of company information -- financial, product, press releases, officers, market and industry analyses, patents, environmental data -- and on and on.
"Businessmen often don't have any idea how much different information we can provide them," Lantz continued.
"A recent client was considering exporting jeans to Europe. We found him the names of companies in Europe that import jeans."
Some companies want to see all recent government actions affecting their products, whether they were reported in the press or not.
"We can tell you about patents a competitor has applied for before they're granted. We can tell you about abandoned or out-of- date patents affecting your products. Recently, several modem manufacturers had to discontinue products because of a patent granted to a major player. They should have called us first."
Companies can call to check public opinion polls on products like theirs. They can use it to find a small locality for test marketing a new product before they go nationwide with it.
A company that wants to expand can use it to find likely candidates for a merger or acquisition.
"The kinds of competitive and market analysis we can do for clients at a reasonable fee once was the preserve of the richest companies," Lantz said. To use the service, he said, just dial 800-FIND-IT-4U.
