ANTHONY L. TORRANCE NAMED PRESIDENT OF ELECTRO RENT'S DATA RENTALS/SALES DIVISION

 VAN NUYS, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Electro Rent Corp. (NASDAQ: ELRC) today announced that Anthony L. Torrance has been named president of its Data Rentals/Sales Division which specializes in the rental, sale and lease of computer and communications equipment including credit and information retrieval systems.
 Torrance, 57, has an extensive background in high technology industries. Most recently, he served as president and chief operating officer of The McCosker Corp. of San Ramon, Calif., a specialist in IBM computer applications software serving vertical markets in the United States and abroad. Prior to that, he was president and chief executive officer of the securities clearance and custody subsidiaries of the Pacific Stock Exchange in San Francisco.
 His previous business experience included management posts with Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, and Optical Sciences Group (which he headed), the international management consulting firm of McKinsey & Co., and IBM. He received his bachelor of science and master of business administration degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
