ANR PIPELINE REORGANIZES TO COMPLY WITH ORDER 636 REQUIREMENTS
DETROIT, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- ANR Pipeline Company today announced a series of organizational changes that will enable it to participate more quickly and effectively in the new environment created by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's recent restructuring rule.
Michael R. Carosio has been named director, gas sales marketing, which has been made a stand-alone activity. He will be responsible for all ANR Pipeline gas sales activities.
Pamela L. Prairie, who previously served as vice president, sales, has been appointed vice president, system marketing. She will be responsible for all of ANR's transportation and storage marketing, as well as market research and planning relative to transportation and storage marketing.
Under this new structure, ANR's system marketing will be organized by region to maximize customer service. This should provide a more coordinated approach and ensure that each individual customer's needs are fully met.
Both Carosio and Prairie will report to William J. Haener, executive vice president and chief operating officer of ANR Pipeline Company.
ANR's engineering and construction activity will now report to Senior Vice President Richard A. Lietz. Lietz is also responsible for ANR field operations and ANR Storage Company.
Thomas L. Miller has been named vice president, gas operations, with responsibility for gas control and system analysis.
There were several reasons for these changes, according to William P. Vititoe, president and chief executive officer of ANR Pipeline Company.
"Consolidating our transportation and storage functions and separating out our gas sales functions in order to comply with Order 636 was the most important," said Vititoe. "Additional reasons included streamlining our organization to better serve the needs of our customers and implementing recommendations that came out of a productivity study we conducted.
"Since the comprehensive settlement ANR filed in March has the unanimous support of all 139 parties involved in the proceeding and meets the goals of Order 636, we hope the commission will accept it in the near future. And ANR wants to be ready to start operating under the new rules as quickly as possible when that happens."
ANR Pipeline Company is a subsidiary of The Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP), a Houston-based energy holding company. Coastal has consolidated assets of more than $9 billion and subsidiary operations in natural gas transmission and storage, refining and marketing, oil and gas exploration and production, coal, chemicals, trucking and independent power production.
