ANR PIPELINE NAMES EMPIRE STATE PIPELINE SUPERINTENDENT

 DETROIT, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- ANR Pipeline Company today announced that it has named Michael M. Hasty superintendent of operations for the Empire State Pipeline. Hasty will be based in Rochester, N.Y.
 Hasty, who joined ANR in 1976, held a variety of field engineering and operating positions before being promoted to superintendent at ANR Pipeline's Portland, Ind., compressor station in 1991. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Northwest Missouri State University.
 ANR Pipeline is the builder/operator of the Empire State Pipeline, a 156-mile intrastate pipeline that will carry natural gas to local utilities and electric power producers in western and central upstate New York.
 Construction of the new pipeline, which will run from Grand Island to Syracuse, New York, began last month and will be completed by Nov. 1, 1993.
 The Empire State Pipeline is sponsored by subsidiaries of The Coastal Corporation, Westcoast Energy Inc. and Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (NYSE: RGS).
 ANR Pipeline is a subsidiary of The Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP), a Houston-based energy holding company. Coastal has consolidated assets of more than $10 billion and subsidiary operations in natural gas marketing, transmission and storage, petroleum refining and marketing, oil and gas exploration and production, coal, chemicals, trucking and independent power production.
