ANNOUNCING: 1992 MARCH OF DIMES CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC,
SPONSORED BY BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD OF OHIO
CLEVELAND, July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Northeast Ohio Chapter of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation announced today they will hold the 1992 March of Dimes Celebrity Golf Classic, sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Ohio, Aug. 17, at the Canterbury Golf Club, in Beachwood, Ohio. All proceeds from the tournament and related activities -- which could top $150,000 -- will benefit the March of Dimes and its Campaign for Healthier Babies.
This year marks the fourth year in a row that Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Ohio has sponsored the annual benefit tournament. Last year's tournament raised more than $130,000 for the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality.
The tournament features golfing with many area celebrities, and an exciting auction hosted by Connie Dieken and Jim Donovan during the Awards Banquet.
Helping the March of Dimes organize the August fund-raiser by serving as volunteer co-chairmen are Brad Roller, president of Swiger Coil Systems, Inc. and Jerry Kysela, vice president, Alexander & Alexander. Roller and Kysela are being assisted by a team of 12 other dedicated volunteers.
"We are excited that Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Ohio will again be sponsoring this event," said Roller. "Their corporate commitment to the March of Dimes has been a key ingredient to the success of this tournament, and to the effectiveness of the Campaign for Healthier Babies here in Northeast Ohio."
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to help babies be born healthy by preventing birth defects, low birthweight and infant mortality. Through its Campaign for Healthier Babies, the March of Dimes funds programs of community service, advocacy, research and education.
For more information on how you can become involved, either by golfing or helping to sponsor the event, call Liz Lasko, March of Dimes Metro Division Director, 800-686-2323.
