            ANNE H. MCNAMARA NAMED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
           OF LG&E ENERGY AND LOUISVILLE GAS AND ELECTRIC
    LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of LG&E Energy Corp. (NYSE: LGE) and the Board of Directors of its subsidiary, Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E), today elected Anne H. McNamara as a director.
    Ms. McNamara currently serves as the senior vice president, administration and general counsel, for AMR Corporation (NYSE: AMR) and its subsidiary, American Airlines Inc., in Dallas, Texas.  She is one of the six senior officers of AMR Corporation and is a senior officer of American Airlines.
    She has policy responsibility for American's legal affairs and human resources for 102,000 employees worldwide and for all of the company's corporate communications.  She has been with American since 1976, when she joined the company as an attorney.  Her background includes mergers and acquisitions, business development, human resources, corporate financings, and industry trade and marketing agreements.
   McNamara earned a juris doctor degree from Cornell University and a bachelor's degree from Vassar College.  She is a member of the Texas and New York bars and the Association of Corporate Secretaries, and she is a former director of the Dallas Ballet Company.
