ANN -- THE NATION'S FASTEST-GROWING ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY -- SELECTS CHARLOTTE, N.C., AS REGIONAL HEADQUARTERS

Charlotte To Serve as Three-State Hub
for ANN's `Electronic Industrial Yellow Pages'
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Automation News Network (ANN) announced today that it's chosen Charlotte as its new regional headquarters serving South Carolina, North Carolina and southern Virginia.
ANN's "Electronic Industrial Yellow Pages," called the Industrial Locator, combines advanced computer and telecommunications technology to electronically link the region's manufacturers and suppliers to the area's growing industrial marketplace.
"The Industrial Locator electronically links buyers and specifiers of industrial products to local manufacturers and suppliers which can significantly boost the economic growth of this region," ANN Regional Manager Rob Vickery said.
ANN has identified more than 15,000 local manufacturers and suppliers who will be included in the first release scheduled for distribution this May. The Industrial Locator will be the largest electronic source of regional manufacturers and suppliers ever created for this region.
The Industrial Locator uses interactive software and runs on IBM or compatible PCs and on local area networks (LANs). Users need only select their requirements and the Industrial Locator will instantly display the local suppliers who can provide the product or service desired.
The Industrial Locator also provides supplier information and product data, generates faxes, displays a calendar of events, processes request for price quotations and additional data and dials local suppliers by simply pressing a key.
"We are in the data-gathering stage in this region, and we encourage local suppliers and manufacturers to call with information for their free electronic listing," Vickery said.
ANN has spent more than three years in developing its "Electronic Yellow Pages" technology. Currently, more than 65,000 users in 10 states have received the Industrial Locator, making ANN the nation's fastest-growing electronic communications company. ANN now has regional offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Detroit and Chicago and is headquartered in Pittsburgh. The firm plans to open six new regional offices: Atlanta, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Rochester, N.Y., by the end of 1994.
In addition to the Industrial Locator, ANN also operates the IndustryNet, an on-line news service featuring new developments in computers, automation and manufacturing technologies worldwide. The company also publishes Industry Report, a regional publication targeted to managers and executives of manufacturing firms.
